Frank Giammanco, president & CEO
Frank Giammanco, president & CEO of First Vision Media Group, Inc., is a 31-year veteran of publishing and communications for the optical industry. He began his career as editor of Optical Index, a monthly magazine owned by Fairchild Publications. Moving into publishing management and sales, he eventually became a vice president/group publisher at Jobson Publishing. Prior to establishing First Vision Media Group, Inc. in 2000, Giammanco was president of Gramercy Marketing & Media, Inc. a business-to-business marketing communications firm headquartered in New York City.
Shawn Mery, executive vice president
Shawn Mery is a publishing executive for more than 20 years. Shawn began his career in ophthalmic publishing in 1989 as advertising manager for Optometric Management, Ophthalmology Management, and Contact Lens Forum, then owned by Miller Freeman Publishing.
In 1991, he joined the staff of Jobson Publishing’s Vision Monday Group as sales director, and contributed greatly to the newspaper’s success. During his tenure with the company he also served as group publisher of Jobson’s Professional Ophthalmic Group. Most recently, Shawn served as publisher for Cahners’ $13.5-million JCK International Publishing Group, providing that organization with a number of new products and marketing initiatives. Mery now serves as Executive Vice President of First Vision Media Group, Inc.
Sharon O’Hanlon, vice president operations
An accounting professional with diverse public and corporate experience in the manufacturing, service, import/export, and publishing sectors, Sharon joined First Vision Media Group in 2002, after 10 years in commodity trading. She contributes her expertise to managing First Vision Media Group’s financial department and resources to facilitate superior business operations on all levels.
John Sailer, vice president editorial
John has been a publishing executive responsible for editing and managing print and electronic publications for many years. He entered the optical field in 2005 when he joined First Vision Media Group as an editor, writing and editing articles for Vision Care Product News, Optical Lab Products and Vision Care Venture. After a four-year stint as senior editor of Vision Monday from 2011 to 2015, he rejoined First Vision Media Group to replace the retiring editorial editor and was subsequently named vice president, editorial, in 2016. Prior to entering the optical field, John was the editor of several different magazines in the technical, building/construction and environmental fields, and is the author of two books in those areas, including A Vogt for the Environment and The Great Stone Architects.
Ed De Gennaro, director,professional content
A consultant to the ophthalmic professions and a member of the Vision Expo Advisory Committee, Ed is formerly Dean of the School of Health Sciences at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA. A Professor and Program head of the Opticianry Program, he lectures extensively at national, state, and local optical meetings and has presented in Europe, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Debby Corriveau, vice president marketing
A marketing professional with over 25 years in the optical industry, Debby has extensive experience in business-to-business marketing, client relations, and project management. Her background includes marketing and product development for American Optical, SOLA Optical, and Gerber Coburn. Debby manages all First Vision Media Group’s special projects in both print and electronic formats for the company’s advertising and marketing clients, as well as marketing our own products and the company’s Web portal, totallyoptical.com.
Jane Kaplan, vice president design director
A designer with over 15 years in the optical industry, Jane has been with First Vision Media Group since 2003. She previously worked in pharmaceutical advertising and was also an Art Director at Jobson Publishing's 20/20 magazine.
