SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY

Ana Montoya
By now I’m sure you’ve heard the word Pinterest. It’s the latest buzz in the social media world. But rather than go on about how to market your business with this new social media platform, I want to talk about how you can use the slew of new social networks to find inspiration for your store.

Let’s start with Pinterest since it’s on everyone’s minds. This visually rich and extremely fun virtual scrapbook lets you pin images of anything and everything that motivates you. Pinterest allows users to create their own pins or re-pin other images to personal inspiration boards. It’s addictive and a feast for the eyes, which is why you should spend some time on it if you’re interested in visualizing a new look for your shop. This social media platform makes it easy to imagine how you can redesign your retail space by providing ideas that will help you envision how to do it.

If you’re lacking some creativity when it comes to the look of your store, you can also try exploring Tumblr blogs. There are thousands of blogs out there, but those under the Tumblr platform seem to be more visually focused and appealing. It’s also super simple to use. Just enter a keyword in the search bar and you’ll find tons of blog posts that are tagged under that subject.

And if artistic photos are what you need as a muse, don’t hesitate to download the Instagram app on your iPhone. Instagram is almost instantly inspiring and is sure to have you thinking of ideas on how to redecorate your retail environment in no time.

Look to the May/June issue of Sunglasses for details on the retail contest we’re having to find the best window displays. Maybe some of these new platforms will help encourage you to enter!
