THE RIGHT SUNGLASS CATCH FOR WATER LOVERS

Spending long days on the water… it sounds relaxing, right? But those who do so need to take special care of their eyes. Anglers and other water sports enthusiasts have to worry about harmful UV damage and glare reduction, as well as the ability to see clearly through the water. So what’s a water lover to look for when buying a pair of sunglasses?

THE RIGHT STUFF
First, start off with 100% UV protection. Polarized lenses and an anti-reflective treatment are also ideal since they minimize the glare that’s reflected off the water. Visual clarity and sharp color enhancement will help to see what’s under the water. Being in humid conditions also creates fog—an obstacle that can be easily avoided with well-ventilated frames and/or lenses. And let’s not forget the water that may end up on the lenses. If they’re treated with a hydrophobic coating, the water will shed right off.

Other features to consider are lightweight, durable frames for all-day comfort; rubberized nosepads and temple tips with a no-slip grip to keep the frames in place, withstanding perspiration; and maximum coverage to shield the eyes from flying debris. And if your customers want to avoid losing their shades in the water, they can invest in a floatable retainer so their sunglasses won’t end up underwater with the fish! So whether your customers are avid anglers or hardcore water enthusiasts who boat, stand-up paddle, sail, canoe, or kayak, there’s a performance sunglass out there to meet their needs. The question is whether you’re offering them what they need. Here are some of the latest sunglass styles made to suit the on-the-water lifestyle.
