CARRERA SUNS: HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH EUROPEAN FLAIR

New offerings continue to rely on the brand’s compelling relationship to aggressive sports.

Patti Galko, ABOC, NCLC
PART of the Safilo Group since 1996, the Carrera collection features innovative sunwear styles which are inspired by the brand’s strong connection to aggressive sports. Carrera began producing quality products in Austria in 1957. Since then, it has mastered a variety of sunwear styles and developed a loyal following throughout the world. Carrera is well known in the industry for its sport-inspired aviators.
New additions to the brand include the Flag Heritage Series, geared toward a refined male with a demanding lifestyle, and four Rx styles made from Flexolite memory metal.

European Flair
The styling of the Flag Heritage Series reflects the original spirit of Carrera and contains many of the features that brought the brand success in the 1970s and 1980s. Many of your patients will appreciate this hip, vintage look.
Created specifically for the U.S. market, the Flag Heritage collection is compromised of stylish frames with a European flair. In fact, Carrera brought some of its best-selling sunwear pieces from Europe into the line. This is easy-to-wear sunwear that is ideal for both sport and leisure activities.
All models feature the distinctive Carrera icon in the center of the bridge. The Flag 1, Flag 3, Flag 4, Flag 5, Flag 6, Flag 7, and Flag 10 styles are double-bridge sporty metal styles with flexible hinges. The Flag 12 and Flag 13 zyls also have this sport look with flexible hinges. Most are Rx adaptable and feature brown, gray, and green polycarbonate, polarized lenses.

High-Tech Materials
Other additions to the Carrera sunwear collection include four new Rxable styles with polarized lenses. The bridges and temples are made from Flexolite memory metal, a first in the Carrera sunglass collection. The use of Flexolite in the sunwear comes on the heels of Carrera’s success with Flexo-lite in its ophthalmic line.
Flexolite makes Style Nos. CA 501/s, 502/s, 503/s, and 504/s extremely comfortable, durable, and lightweight, as well as fatigue- and corrosion-resistant. While not completely indestructible, the frames provide excellent memory retention and easily hold their shape for active men.
Each of the sleek new Flexolite styles are 25% lighter than conventional metals and have eight times more spring steel. They’re offered in a variety of masculine colors such as shiny gunmetal with a gray polarized lens, shiny bronze with a brown polarized lens, and black with a green pol-arized lens.

Lens Colors
Carrera sunwear offers a range of general-purpose lens colors. Brown is ideal for bright sunny days when high contrast and depth perception are desired and is the best lens color for high-glare activities such as skiing, boating, and fishing. Gray allows colors to be seen in their natural state and they are transmitted evenly through the visual spectrum. It is excellent for cycling, running, and outdoor work. Green is the best lens color for a variety of light conditions from very bright to cloudy; it allows the most useful light to reach the eye.
Carrera continues to shine with its wide range of sports performance sunwear. Add it to your product mix and you’ll be glad you did.
