Great Grand Optical

   Four generations, that’s a
   long time to have a
   thriving family business! It
   all started when Hyman
   Moscot, the great
   grandfather of the
   brothers currently
   managing the Moscot
   optical business,
   emigrated to the United
   States and started selling
   eyeglasses from a
   pushcart on Orchard
   Street in Manhattan’s
   famed Lower East Side.

   Economic ups and downs,
   the family business has

Harvey Moscot credits his family’s success over four
generations to “a commitment to the Moscot experience.
It’s never about the one-time customer but about the lifelong relationship.”

Hyman Moscot, emigrated to the U.S. from Eastern Europe in 1899 and sold glasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street until he opened his first retail space in 1915 in New York City’s famed Lower East Side.

Today, his great grandsons, Harvey (the family’s first OD) and his brother/partner, Kenny, run an eyecare/eyewear practice that provides optometric services to New Yorkers and classic eyewear styles throughout the world.
