   I’ve been a member of
   LinkedIn for awhile now,
   and I finally felt compelled
   to join Facebook because
   I was missing a lot
   without it. I’m even a
   member of the social
   media site devoted
   exclusively to eyecare
   professionals,
   eyecoalition.com. I guess
   it won’t be long now
   before I feel the need to
   start tweeting on Twitter.
   I wouldn’t have joined
   these sites if I didn’t see a
   benefit to doing so. They
   can actually be great
   resources for up-to
   the-minute information,
   but they can also be “a
   huge waste of time,”...

“It’s unfathomable to think that 10% of the world’s population is functionally blind due to the lack of having a pair of glasses,” said Vic Connors, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight in the United States.


What started as a day to help give free eyecare and eyewear to the millions of people without access to it throughout the world has now grown to longer than a month.


World Sight Day is scheduled for October 14th but can be celebrated from September 1st through October 14th. Eyecare professionals participate by donating a portion of their exam fees.
